Indian monsoon fails in four key states
India depends over 80% on its annual monsoon rains for agriculture output. And this year so far, the monsoon has failed miserably in four key grain producing states, namely Punjab, Haryana, UP and Madhya Pradesh. These four states account for over 50% of few of the main agricultural produce, including wheat and dal items.
The government has officially declared some other states as drought hit, and these four states also might be included in the list, which could spell disaster for food supplies in the coming months. Even rich people might not get enough rice and wheat and dal , as supplies would be down by 30% to 50% .
