Exotic sea life
Abyss has been always known as permanent darkness of the sea but now, a treasure of exotic animals around 17,650 has been found and still new species are emerging. International census of marine life is studying the ocean depths to find these marine lives for 10 year project and will end by October 2010.
Animals such as luminous jelly fish, shrimps corals star fish, crabs, fined octopods, dumbos and sharks are found 5 kilometers deep in sunless water. As thought by us the abyss is not a dark place anymore.
Light penetrates 200 meters into the deep water. An animal named siphonosphores is found longer than blue whale . 990 meters deep tubeworms were found in Gulf of Mexico. Tubeworms are the indicators of oils such as methane, petroleum. Countries can save billions of dollars by investing in too many exploration projects in deep sea waters, by going in search of tube worms.
Another discovery led to whale bone eating worm, osedax in the sea of Antarctica.
