India reports first Swine Flu death
India is second most populous country in the world, after China. When WHO declared Swine Flu as an epidemic two months back, it did a detailed analysis on the vaccine coverage , country wise. It found that India has vaccine only to cover 3% of the population.
Now, as expected the Swine Flu has spread into most parts of India, and over 600 people have officially reported to be affected by the virus. And few days back a school girl from Pune state, near Mumbai, succumbed to the deadly virus.
While there is a debate going on whether she could have been saved or not, it is important for the government authorities to act on a war footing to spread the awareness and precautionary steps to be taken by the general public.
Only that can save further loss of life in India. In a worst case scenario, India might end up losing up to a billion people to this deadly virus , if the virus spreads faster in the coming winter season.
