Ahmedinejad wins Iran polls
The Iranian polling authorities have declared that the present President Ahmedinejad has won the Presidential polls comfortably with a 63% vote share, while his competitor Moulavi got only 34% of the votes.
Immediately after the results were announced, there were cases of violent protest by Moulavi supporters, who were fired upon with plastic bullets by the security forces.
The winning of Ahmedinejad with good majority would also mean more trouble for the US and Western world. Ahmedinejad is likely to seriously pursue the nuclear ambitions, and he might also support anti-isreal insurgents in a big way.
The Obama administration might still try for breaking the deadlock with Iran, which now squarely depends on the wish and attitude of Ahmedinejad.
Ahmedinejad has been very open in saying that Israel must be wiped out of the global Map , and he is also not willing to take the new US government promises at face value. But he is also facing a huge unemployed population, and a bigger part of the Rural poor who do not get even two meals a day.
These things might compel him to look at improving the business relationship with US, if he is really interested in improving the quality of life for the millions of Iranians who voted for him.
